Hawaiian Tropic Sun Protection

Here in Yorkshire, the weather has been scorchio! I think 2014 is the year England finally got their summer back, and of course, as every good Beauty Blogger knows, sun protection is a key product when the sunshine is out. Therefore I wanted to tell you about my favourite sun care brand Hawaiian Tropic.

Hawaiian Tropic are a well-established sun care brand that have been around as long as I can remember and their range of SPF’s, lotions and sprays has grown immensely. First I wanted to tell you about the Protective Dry Spray Oil. A lot of people prefer to use oil, including my boyfriend James as it can tend to give you a darker colour. The Hawaiian Tropic Dry Spray Oil is enriched with luxurious coconut, and for those lucky enough to go abroad or have a hot tub in their back garden, it is also water resistant. Just one spritz of the oil reminds me of when we were in Egypt earlier this year, and makes me want to fly over to the Caribbean with a cocktail in hand.

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection Sun Lotion Ultra Radiance

Again, this lotion has that amazing holiday scent, and I am finding it hard to think of what to write next as all I want to do is keep smelling the lotion! This is a cream based sun protection product and is extra moisturising for the skin, leaving it soft and radiant. I think it is really important to choose a product that is moisturising as the sun dries your skin out a ridiculous amount, and you WILL end up looking like Madge from Benidorm.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sun Lotion

Just to continue my coconut-scent obsession, this lotion does have a scent but it is not as strong as the Oil and the Satin Protection. This lotion has up to 12 hours of moisturisation, and features pretty ribbons of hydrating lotion throughout the cream. It helps to keep your skin luminous and well protected in the sunshine and is water resistant so you won’t have to keep re-applying everytime you get out of the pool.

So remember boys and girls, PLEASE make sure you keep protected in this glorious sunshine, no one wants to look like a crinkled 90 year old when they are 25!

Blistex Lip Care

As with most cosmetics and toiletries, there are hundreds of different lip balms, creams, scrubs and protection. Blistex is definitely one of those brands you think of straight away, a cult lip protection name. Now I don’t know whether it’s due to my braces, the weather or what, but my lips have been sore and dry for a few days now, and for some reason I end up licking and biting them which just makes it ten times worse. It drives me crazy! Therefore I thought it a fab time to try out these beauties from Blistex.

First up is Lip Brilliance in Blushing. This balm comes in an original twist up tube, and adds a gorgeous shimmer and a tint of rosy glow – perfect for that just kissed look 😉 Lip Brilliance is enriched with lots of lovely stuff, such as Vitamin E to naturally replenish, silk extracts for super duper softness and grape seed oil to condition that pout.

Next up is Raspberry Lemonade Blast. The name of this balm totally makes me think of a nice crushed ice summer beverage….one can dream! Just like Lip Brilliance, the Raspberry Lemonade Blast is also in a twist up tube, and is bursting with gorgeous things such as exotic coconut oil for moisture, jojoba to condition and antioxidant Vitamins C and E for super-charged pout perfection. This may sound strange but I love the taste of this lip balm too, makes me excited for my holiday 🙂

Last but certainly not least is Moisture Max. Now this is the one I have been using the most this week and have certainly noticed a difference within a few hours of using it. Moisture Max is the first ever lip balm with soft melting Moisture Beads, which are tiny micro-moisturising miracles that super-hydrate your lips, leaving them meltingly moisturised. This balm is in a squeezy tube and the round tipped applicator is perfect for bursting those little miracle beads onto your lips.

Neal & Wolf ‘Silk’ Hair Product

Before I tell you more about this product, I need to give you some background information: my hair is horrendous. Naturally, it’s curly, wavy, flicky, frizzy and just generally bamfy. I’m not sure if bamfy is a term you’ve come across before, I may have invented it when I was about 13 and realised how untameable my hair was. You can also use variations such as bamfosity or bamf in general, just in case you wanted to use the adjective yourself. Basically, if it’s cold, warm, humid, raining, snowing or windy, my hair becomes a bamf. And a bamf is never what you want.

In fact, here’s a picture of my hair after one particularly drizzly night out. It was straight when I left the house:

Now we all know how bad my natural hair is, I’ll tell you more about this product.

The lovely team at Neal and Wolfe sent Kathryn and myself two products, one specifically for my hair type, and one for Kathryn’s (more on that one later).

The product I was sent was ‘Silk’, a smoothing blow-dry balm which can be used on all hair types. The bottle states that Silk puts an end to tangles and frizz using a hydrating wheat protein complex, which provides moisture, balance and manageability.

After washing my hair as normal, with good old Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends, I towel dried my hair, brushed it through, then used a 2p sized blob of the balm throughout before blow drying the way I always do (whilst playing on my phone, not looking, with no precision, even though I know I should blow dry it straight). It smelt GORGEOUS, exactly like the products a hairdresser would use and the consistency was thick enough to use without leaving my hair heavy or feeling lank.

The results at this stage took me by complete surprise! I had straight hair instead of looking like Hagrid!

Without even straightening, it was smooth and manageable:

I then straightened it and got ready for a night out. In some places, it felt slightly sticky, but once straightened the whole thing felt soft and smooth, with an added shine:

At this stage, I was still apprehensive about whether it would stay this way, but it was certainly worth a shot.
I went downstairs to wait for a lift and my dad, who wouldn’t notice if I dyed my hair bright pink, said “have you done something different with your hair?!”… So far, so good.

When I met up with the girls, they all asked what I’d done differently with my hair too! I hadn’t noticed exactly how well it had worked until my friends complimented me.

As I went out, the real test started. It was freezing, raining, windy and every bar had the heating on full blast making the places humid. This is my hairs worst nightmare.
But by the end of the night:

A couple of kinks but all in all STILL STRAIGHT!

Since then, I have sworn by this product. Whenever I meet up with people, I’ve had compliments on how straight, sleek and healthy my hair looks. I can honestly say, I can’t live without this anymore- I like compliments too much. Goodbye unmanageable hair!

The product is available online at http://www.nealandwolf.com, where you can find out more information on the products, stockists and prices. It’s firmly saved in my favourites! At £12.50 for the bottle, I recommend anyone with similar hair to me to try it out! It’s a saviour.

Love from an impressed, gorgeous haired Emily 😄 xxx
