The Me-Time Tag

I have found another one of these Tag posts and I really enjoy doing them as it helps my lovely followers to learn more about me and I also love reading them on others’ blogs. Me-time is really important to me, as I have spent so much time on my own most of my life, being an only-child and losing my Mum at 17. Therefore I am used to having my own space and now living with my boyfriend James, I like to make sure I have a little me-time so that I don’t have a freak-out every now and then haha!

  1. What do you like to watch or read during me-time?

With regards to films, I love girly films like The Princess Diaries, Cinderella, Clueless and then the Eighties Tom Cruise film Cocktail. Basically just films that remind me of when I was younger, they always seem to cheer me up. Book-wise I do read quite a lot anyway, and so it is usually just whichever book I am currently reading, it tends to be chick lit.

  1. What do you wear during me-time?
Pyjamas all the way! If I am feeling cold, it will be pyjamas, slippers, and a cardigan or hoody, all topped off with a blanket or throw which I then tend to drag along with me to the kitchen in search of snacks.
  2. What are your favourite me-time beauty products?
I run myself a lovely hot bath, pop a bath bomb or melt in there, tie my hair back and just soak until the water runs cold, although I then do fill it up with more hot water – just don’t tell my boyfriend James that haha! (He says I have too many baths/use too much water as it is!) I tend to take more care with my skin during me-time and so I will get my Magnitone out, and give me skin a good scrub, and use my Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed face mask, which is really warming on the skin.
  3. Current favourite nail polish?

Hmmmmmm I don’t paint my nails have as much as I would love to, and at the moment I like pastel colours, even though it is winter now! But I do have a lovely mustard-coloured Barry M Gelly nail polish.

  1. What do you eat or drink during me-time?

Anything I can find! I do like to whip myself up a hot chocolate, with squirty cream and marshmallows though and I will probably eat more sweet things than savoury during me-time as it is often when I am surfing the crimson wave.

  1. Current favourite candle?

I got a Stoneglow Winter candle from Love Aroma and it smells soooo amazing. It is such a Christmassy scent and it looks pretty too as it has the appearance of snow, with lots of sparkly glitter on the top.

  1. Do you ever have outdoor me-time?

Basically NO hahaha. Certainly not in Winter anyway, I hate the cold weather!

  1. Would you ever go and watch a film alone?

No, films don’t bother me that much anyway, and we do watch quite a lot of films at home as James is a bit of a film buff! I think the cinema is so expensive nowadays and so if I was to go it would be as a trip out with James or a friend.

  1. Favourite online shop?
At the moment I love browsing as there are so many great offers at this time of the year and I cannot wait until this weekend as there will be lots of Black Friday offers – bank card at the ready! I am hoping to get the Jack Wills duffel bag set and the Best of Benefit set in particular.
  2. Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?

I love a little snooze, my Dad used to call my horizontal Annie as I just tend to relax a lot of the time, well as much as possible. I will catch up on Twitter and Facebook, play my mindless games on my iPhone, flick through magazines and have cuddles with my kitten Millie.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my answers! If you want to also do the tag just copy & paste the questions below to your own blog.

Tresemme Hair Care – New Products

My hair is currently in a bit of a mess…I haven’t had it cut since summer, firstly because I am skint and secondly because I am trying to grow it after having it cut fairly short. I recently dyed it brown, which is my natural colour as my highlights were seriously growing out and I wanted it all the same colour. Therefore I am concentrating on haircare in order to get my hair back to its best.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic

It is just as important to keep your scalp healthy as it is your hair, as this is what helps your hair to grow, and the Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic is a soothing treatment but also helps to to promote hair growth. You simply use the fine tipped nozzle to apply the Tonic directly to the scalp and massage in whilst the hair is damp, and then style as normal. I do tend to get dry, itchy skin on my scalp and so this feel really cooling and smoothing and I find that the initial relief is instant and with continued use of the Tonic, my scalp has been less dry and not half as irritated.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic contains Tea Tree Extract as well as Sunflower Oil to rebalance and nourish on a cellular level. Personally I am sometimes a little wary about hair products in case they make my hair greasy but this is such a lightweight treatment that once the cooling effect has worn off you can not feel it in your hair or on your scalp at all.

Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray

The Tresemme Youth Boost collection is designed to treat the first signs of ageing hair, hair which lacks body and is dry and dull. This specialist solution is weightlessly infused with Omega-3 and antioxidents and helps to recharge your hair with fullness, softness and shine. The formula instantly lifts hair from the roots for fuller and thicker looking hair, and it actually works instantly, which I loved and it didn’t make my hair feel weighed down or greasy.

Millie decided to photobomb whilst I was taking photos!

After shampooing and conditioning the hair, spray 10-12 pumps of the Emulsion Spray to wet hair, directly at the roots to cover the whole scalp. Then gently massage the formula in with your fingertips. I recommend blow drying with a vent brush as this will help create added fullness and will help to lift the hair from the roots for amazing volume.

The Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic costs £5.50 and the Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray costs £6.99 and are both available at and you can also check out the full Tresemme range at

Batiste Floral Essences

As mentioned in my Bouffe review, I am currently testing out a few different dry shampoos, and I couldn’t do this without including the most recent release from Batiste. In my opinion, Batiste are the original dry shampoo company and I have gone through a shop-full of their cans!

The latest Batiste release is the Floral Essences fragrance – this is a floral fusion which refreshes hair using summer scents, which is I really enjoyed as it took me back to summer whilst donning my winter sweater and jeans.

I don’t want to rattle on about Batiste because I have done multiple reviews/faves on them and I am pretty sure you all have either read about Batiste or tried it yourselves. But the bottom line is that Batiste is my ultimate favourite dry shampoo product so far that I rely on a daily basis and love trying the new scents.

Check out and see which fragrance you like the sound of!

Bouffe Dry Spray

I love dry shampoos, and I more or less use them every day, whether it is to freshen up my hair, to fragrance it or to add a bit of texture and volume to the hair. I recently gave Bouffe Dry Spray a whirl and this is how I got on.

Bouffe is a dry spray that you apply to the roots to give instant volume for your hair. It comes in a variety of shades from clear and light blonde, all the way to black. The bonus of the coloured options is that it’s able to cover any grey hairs or root growth while it’s delivering the instant root lift.

To use Bouffe, you simply roughly section the hair, spray the Dry Spray into the roots, and then massage it in with your fingers. It is pretty simple and you use it like any dry shampoo. If you are using a coloured one, just make sure you avoid spraying any in the hair line and rinse your hands when you’ve finished. I also made the mistake of using a coloured dry spray without taking precaution last year on holiday – I popped my brand new lilac Ralph Lauren polo shirt on and then liberally sprayed the dry spray on all over my hair – it went all over my new polo shirt as well and didn’t come out, which was pretty upsetting at the time!

Bouffe feels really light in the hair and I found that it doesn’t mattify the texture too much, so you can still have shiny hair if you want it. If you don’t need root cover-up I’d recommend the colourless one as I think it could get messy if you keep touching your roots. If you need a colour then make sure you also purchase the Bouffe Fixing Spray which seals the colour and locks in volume.

I would definitely re-purchase this dry shampoo spray although I am currently testing a few different ones out so keep your eyes peeled for more Dry Shampoo reviews.

Birchbox October 2014

You gals know how much I love a beauty box, and here is Birchbox’s October products and review.

Inside the box was a cute pink make-up bag which contained this month’s products. The theme of this box was in relation to CoppaFeel, whom help promote breast cancer awareness, as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! Check out CoppaFeel at

On to the products for this month…

KMS California FREE SHAPE Hot Flex Crème (Full price £15.50) – I haven’t tried any of the KMS California range before and so it was great to get something new.

This particular product helps to smooth curls, waves and frizz and smells sweet as candy! It is a styling cream and is applied to towel-dried hair, which you then comb through and dry.

Shaveworks The Cool Fix (Full price £11) – I tend to suffer from shaving rash and little bumps after shaving and so this cooling gel lotion is perfect for me as it treats ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness after hair removal.

It is suitable for use after waxing or shaving and can be used at anytime of the day.

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm (Full price £8) – I have seen the Pixi ranges before and the colours of both the product and packaging are gorgeous!

Again it is a brand I haven’t used, although have wanted to and I was really pleased to see this in my Birchbox. The colour is pink and leaves a light tint on the lips, along with plenty of moisturisation.

Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm (Full price £20) – I have tried some of the Balance Me range before and really enjoy using the products and seeing the results.

This balm is a natural nourishing cleanser with exfoliating oatmeal powder which is perfect for normal to dry skin, but is also fab at balancing out oily skin too. I love to use this after a warm bath or shower, massaging over my face, and washing off with a warm cotton cloth.

Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum (Full price £30.95) – Yet another new brand to me – one of the things I love most about beauty boxes!

Dr Sebagh and supermodel Cindy Crawford thought up this sumptuous radiance-enhancing anti-ageing serum. It is NEVER too early to start wrinkle prevention girls and so use this in the morning before moisturiser or anytime for a quick pick-me-up.

This month’s lifestyle gift was a Lipstick Pen which is super cute to pop in your handbag or on your desk at work. I love stationery, it is one of my shopping highlights!

Denman Hair Brush Update

Another brand favourite at The Kats Paws is Denman – they make some of the best hairbrushes around and so I thought I would show you a couple of their new releases…

Denman Classic Styling Brush £8.68

This is a modern twist on a traditional brush style. The reliable classic styling brush now has a pink and black animal print, making it super funky and fun. Leopard is one of my favourite animal prints and seems to be EVERYWHERE season after season.

The D3 styling brush is one of Denman’s essential brushes and is ideal for any hair length or type and so is also great to give as a gift. It includes the Denman half-round pad to give maximum grip and control, as well as seven rows of nylon pins, making it fab to use for blow-drying, smoothing, shaping and polishing the hair.

Thermo Ceramic Straightening Brush £11.22

I haven’t used a straightening brush before this one, and wasn’t sure how well it would work. It contains boar bristles which grip the hair and smooth the cuticle for a straight, glossy look.

I tried it out whilst blow-drying my hair recently, holding the brush like a pair of electric straighteners, taking it through each section of my hair and I was really pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t straightening iron-straight but was definitely less wavy than it is when I dry my hair naturally.

Which hairbrushes do you use?

Check out the Denman range at where they have some great gift ideas.
