BrushPicks

I have had my braces on for 6 months now, and it is still a nightmare whenever I eat anything when I am out and about. Food gets stuck in my teeth and for some reason most places don’t provide toothpicks anymore. Very inconvenient.

Image

But I recently discovered The Doctor’s BrushPicks. They are interdental toothpicks which safely remove food particles which giving you a splinter, as well as stimulating the gums to promote periodontal health and fighting gingivitis (inflammation of the gums). Each toothpick looks a little like a spear, with long bristles on one end and the opposite end of the toothpick is shaped to scrape away plaque.

Image

They come in a handy-sized box, which I keep in my desk at work. The BrushPicks are also available in a re-fillable keychain dispenser, which is perfect for attaching to my handbag, or keyring if you are male. This little dispenser contains 15 toothpicks and is great for when you are on the go, and by popping it onto your handbag you won’t have to remember to take your BrushPicks with you everytime you leave the house!

Magnitone Lucid

When The Kats Paws started out I was lucky enough to try the Magnitone Pulsar – a face cleansing and exfoliating brush and have used it more or less every day since. My boyfriend lives 90 miles away from me and I spend nearly every weekend there and so I have started buying two of everything so that packing is easier and quicker every Thursday night – I now have 2 pairs of GHDs, two sets of makeup, and now I have two Magnitones. This is the Magnitone Lucid, a smaller, compact version of the Magnitone Pulsar.

Image

As I have used the Magnitone before I knew the results but I wanted to refresh your memories, as we have lots of new followers and subscribers since our very first Magnitone post.

With 10,000 pulsed osculations per minute, the Magnitone Lucid gives a deeper cleanse than your normal face wash and gets deep into your pores for that super clean feeling. It is suitable for all skin types, which is perfect for me as my skin type changes depending on the seasons, and can be used everyday and night to fit in with your regular skincare routine. There are two settings, deep cleanse and sensitive, which you just click the button for either once or twice, depending on which effect you are wanting and there is also a timer which is really handy. It is split into zonal intervals which the Lucid will beep after each one – the forehead, the right side of the face and then the left side of your face.

It is the perfect size for travelling, which means I will be able to take it on my holiday too. The charger is totally different to the Pulsar – it is a little magnet which pops onto the bottom of the Lucid and then you just plug in as normal. I use my Magnitone twice a day and it the charge life lasts absolutely ages, which is great as I am quite forgetful when it comes to charging things up!

Ooh I almost forgot the colours! The Magnitone Lucid is available in a brilliant sky blue, a pretty mint green, a bright sunshine yellow and my personal favourite, a gorgeous plush pink, which is the one I went for – James’ (my boyfriend) bathroom is boyish and blue and so I thought a flash of pink would be perfect.

Image

To use the Lucid, you simply use it with your regular cleanser, and glide the brush across your face quite slowly for it to get deep into the skin. The bristles are lovely and soft and not at all harsh on the face. The appliance itself is waterproof and so can be used whilst relaxing in the bath or dashing in the shower.

I had results after just one week with the original Magnitone Pulsar, and this Magnitone Lucid has continued to make my skin much better and smoother. The Magnitone Lucid is £69.99 which is much cheaper than the original Magnitone as well as being even cheaper than similar products, which is why I couldn’t wait to snap it up.

W7 Full Time Lip Colour

I recently wanted to try a bright red gloss, and have done for a while, but I thought I would end up with gloss on my teeth, sticky gloopy gloss on everything I drank or ate and so have avoided purchasing one. Until I came across W7 Full Time Lip Colour in Mars. It says it gives all day glossiness, which to be honest I did find hard to believe.

Image

You firstly apply the colour, wait for it to dry (approximately 30 seconds), and then apply the clear gloss on top of the colour. The colour was a beautiful bright red, and the gloss was super shiny, and amazingly I couldn’t feel any stickiness or heaviness.

Image

I applied the gloss in the morning, and even when drinking my can of Coca-Cola there was no lip prints on the can. It literally did not budge all day, whatever I ate or drank, which is something I have never ever experienced before. Most glosses stay on an hour or so at the most, and so I was really impressed with this gloss.

Image

Image

At the end of the day, the gloss was still there, I cleansed my face and it did remove the shine but not the colour and so I used an oiled based make-up remover and it came off perfectly.

Image

I cannot wait to order more of these in other colours, as it is honestly the best lip gloss I have tried, and believe me I have tried aLOT! I have a few other W7 goodies which I shall be sharing with you soon.

Sheer Cover Cosmetics

I have never had beautiful skin, I have tried skincare product after skincare product and nothing has ever worked long-term. I would love the kind of natural perfect skin that so many other beauty bloggers have but it is not to be. Whilst watching television the other day I saw an info-mercial on Sheer Cover cosmetics. They showed a few different girls with skin blemishes far worse than mine that resulted in beautiful radiant skin after using the Sheer Cover range. Now I am no fool, I know these things can be touched up on screen but I also think that everything or anyone deserves a chance.

Image

Sheer Cover Kit in Light

The Sheer Cover kit comes complete with everything you need for natural looking skin, Conceal & Brighten Trio, Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation, Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals, Lengthening Mascara, Lash Extending Fibers and three brushes. I couldn’t wait to try it out as soon as the postman delivered the parcel and so here are my results.

Image

Before

Step One: Conceal

Image

Sheer Cover Conceal & Brighten Trio

Firstly I cleansed and moisturised my skin so that I had a nice fresh base to work with. I then applied the Conceal & Brighten Trio Concealer with the Concealer Brush, using both shades of the concealer to achieve a shade that was right for my skin.

Image

After the Concealer

Step Two: Brighten

In the Conceal & Brighten Trio there is a little compartment with a brightening formula inside, using the Concealer Brush again, I dabbed the brightener under my brow bones and at the inner and outer corner of each eye.

Image

After Brightener

Step Three: Cover

Image

Mineral Foundation and Foundation Brush

Now it is time for the Mineral Foundation – you simply shake the powder into the lid, dip the Foundation brush into the lid and tap off any excess powder. Then, in a circular motion, from the outside of the face working inward, gradually blend the Mineral Foundation over your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead.

Image

The right side of my face has the Mineral Foundation blended in

Step Four: Illuminate

Image

Bronzer and Slanted Brush

Apply the Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals by lightly dusting on the areas of your face that would normally catch the sunshine. I used the third brush for this as it has a slanted angle to it and so is perfect for applying on cheekbones.

Image

After applying the Bronzer

Step Five: Lengthen

Image

Lengthening Mascara and Lash Extending Fibers

Firstly, apply a layer of the Lengthening Mascara and then a layer of the Lash Extending Fibers, followed by another coat of the Lengthening Mascara. I have used similar lash fibres to these before and they are one of my make-up bag essentials as I have really short fine lashes and these really help to build up my lashes.

Image

After applying the Lash Extending Fibers

I chose the Light shade of Sheer Cover products and this was perfect for my fair skin, none of the products were too dark or too pale, they blended perfectly. I was really pleased with the results I got from this kit, my skin looked really natural but radiant, and there was no greasy, heavy feeling which I often get from liquid foundations. The Mineral Foundation also has an SPF of 15 and so is great for protecting your skin too. At just £29.99 for the whole kit, this was cheaper than one bottle of my regular liquid foundation and so doesn’t break the bank either.

Filofax Pennybridge iPad Mini Case

Being the OCD organiser that I am, I have been using Filofaxes since I was a kid. I love having a little organiser that is all mine, with sections for everything that I need, and where I can keep all of my information. I love the fact that the basis of Filofax has not changed over the years and just the cases have got a little more modern.

I was recently on the look out for a new iPad mini case as I had one that I could slide my iPad into, but not one that included a stand. The Filofax Pennybridge iPad Mini Case is a zip-up case that includes a secure 360 degree rotable iPad Mini frame – the best of both worlds!

Image

As you open the case up, on the left hand side is an A5 notepad, which is perfect for when I am blogging as I can jot down any information rather than balancing an iPad and a notebook on my knee. There is also a pen slot, and three other slots for business cards, or any other lose papers you may need to carry around with you.

 Image

On the right side is a durable frame for your iPad to click into, which has a swivel mechanism attached to it, so that you can watch a film on your iPad or have it horizontally or vertically.

Image

The A5 case is made from a gorgeous raspberry grained leather-look PU material, and it oozes expense. I love the fact that it opens up like a book and can be easily zipped up for when I am on the go.

The Filofax Pennybridge iPad Mini Case is also available in the larger iPad size and costs just £30 from www.filofax.co.uk

Claire’s Accessories Mini Haul

Claire’s Accessories is girl heaven – jewellery, bags, cosmetics, sparkly things, glittery things, fluffy pink things, the lot! Even at the age of 30 I love going in and don’t often come out empty handed. I just wanted to share with you a few things I recently got, including a few new hair trends.

Daisy Hair Clips 2 Pack £4

A little more than I would often spend on two hair clips, but I love daisies, and even my little cat is named Daisy. These are quite large hair clips and are on little crocodile clips which are easy to glide into place.

 Image

Neon Coral Flower Bun Garland £5

I love the brightness of the coral and the white on this garland and it is perfect for putting around one of the donut sponges which a lot of people use to have a more structured updo. This is perfect for summer and will look fabulous with a pretty white dress.

ImageFuzzy Daisy Drawstring Anklet £4.50

My love of daisies continues with this really cute anklet. It has five fuzzy daisies on a plaited white cord which is really simple to tie around your anklet into a bow. Another summery purchase which I cannot wait to wear.

ImageLove Heart Donut by Scunci £8

This may seem quite expensive for one of the hair donuts, but this is a hair donut with a difference – it shapes the hair into a love heart! The set includes the heart bun maker, 2 Scunci hair elastics and 6 black Scunci Kirby grips and comes with full instructions on how to achieve the look.

Image

Bow Maker Hair Tool by Scunci £5.50

I once saw Lauren Conrad with a bow in hair, made from her actual hair and was super jealous as bows are one of my favourite things, but being as useless as I am with hair, it was something I couldn’t re-create. That is, until I discovered the Scunci Bow Maker Hair Tool. Each kit contains 3 bow making tools and 6 kirby grips, and again has step-by-step instructions on how to create a bow.

ImageVintage Hair Roll Kit by Scunci £8

This is actually another look I am copying after seeing it on someone at Sharm El Sheikh airport. She had her hair done up in a vintage hair roll, with a floral hair garland added for extra prettiness. I was so pleased when I found this kit in Claire’s Accessories. Each kit contains a hair roller and 6 kirby grips and those full instructions as with the other two kits.

 Image

I am sure I will be able to create some fab summery looks this season with these amazing kits and accessories.

An inspired Kathryn xxx

VioLife Slim Sonic Toothbrush & Spritz

VioLife Slim Sonic Toothbrush £19.99

I have been on the lookout for an electric toothbrush for a while now and the VioLife Slim Sonic Toothbrush really caught my eye. When I had my brace fitted at the Orthodontists in January they gave me a really plain looking toothbrush but I took orders and used it as told, but now that my teeth don’t ache as much I decided to progress onto an electric one. I chose this toothbrush as the actual brush is a normal size rather than being too big for my teeth, as I didn’t want to damage my brace.

 Image

Also the design is really funky, with swirls of pink, lime and navy, three of my favourite colours. The brush is really compact and has a lid with it which makes it perfect for when I am travelling down to my boyfriend James’ on a weekend and also comes with a spare head, which with other brands these can often be really expensive just on their own.

 Image

The Slim Sonic Toothbrush is really easy to use, it is battery operated, which comes included in the toothbrush ready for action, and is switched on using a simple push button mechanism. The brush produces 22,000 strokes per minute which is something I definitely couldn’t do myself, in fact probably Popeye couldn’t even manage this after a night on the spinach.

VioLife Spritz £24

As I have been suffering from hot flushes (not the menopausal type thank goodness!) recently, the VioLife Spritz is perfect for when I’m out and about and feeling a little warm. It is a personal spa treatment that features Nano-Technology, allowing the skin nourishing properties of water to moisturise the skin.

ImageThe Spritz is perfect to pop into a handbag or a pocket and with just the slide of your finger, the Spritz awakens, emitting a nano-fine vapour, providing penetrating refreshment to your skin. You can use the Spritz as a hydrating facial, to combat dry-skin or simply to relax or cool down.

Image It is powered by 4 AA batteries, which are not included, and all you need to do is add tap water or scented floral waters to the easy-fill vial included inside. The Spritz does come in a variety of colours, but I chose this pretty pearlescent pink, which actually reminds me of a mobile phone I used to have, with the sliding mechanism, which just shows how slim and compact the Spritz is. I have found this mister so comforting and cooling, and it would be perfect to take on an aeroplane or on your holidays when the heat gets a little dry or too hot to bare.

Kathryn xxx
