Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamel Collection

Revlon’s most recent Nail Enamel Collection is a gorgeous range of gel polishes, all with the fabulous theme of Las Vegas – well with regards to the shade names. This pioneering nail collection provides brilliant colour, gel-shine and long lasting wear.

Each polish pairs base coat and colour in one combined formula for convenient, time-saving application, which if you read The Kats Paws regularly, you know will be a massive bonus for me as I hate waiting for each individual step of the nail polishing routine to dry. The formula contains optical brighteners which give the nails superior, vivid colour, which is perfect to brighten up these dull, dreary days.

There are a whopping 30 stunning shades in the collection and here are five of my favourites;

Checkmate – This is a light beige colour that is fab for everyday wear, regardless of the occasion or the time of year, this polish will take you through the whole year.

Sure Thing – This shade is a bright white, some people may shy away from white nail polish, but I have seen a lot of it around lately and I definitely want to give this look a whirl. It is also perfect for American-French polish looks on your fingers or toes.

Long Shot – This is definitely my current favourite Autumn/Winter shade this year – a gorgeous rusty orange colour. It reminds me of New England maple leaves and Halloween colours. Gorgeous!

Dealer’s Choice – Teal in colour, this is a darker shade of the popular minty/teal greens that we saw in the warmer months. I love the fact that this shade is also perfect for pretty much any time of year.

Hot Hand – I couldn’t do a Top 5 without including a pink shade! This is bright without being summery, which I love and so us girly girls can still be pink whilst keeping in with Autumn/Winter trends.

The Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamels are priced at £6.99 each (much cheaper than a gel polish application in a salon!) and are available from most Boots and Superdrug stores.

Playboy Cosmetics Lipsticks BRIGHTS

Oooooh I do love this time of year, as with all the parties and outings, it is a massive excuse (not that we need one!) to go a little crazier, more over the top with our cosmetics! I have three gorgeous bright bright bright shades of lipstick from Playboy Cosmetics that I just had to share with you, that I think are perfect for those kisses under the mistletoe.

Bunny Girl

Firstly I must say that I will probably be overusing the words gorgeous, bright and stunning because basically all three of these colours are gorgeous, bright and stunning. Bunny Girl is a bright (sorry!) reddish pink, and is actually spot on for being a really good mix of half red and half pink, with not one colour really overtaking the other.

Front Cover

THE most beautiful coral colour I have ever ever seen! This is brighter and lighter than most usual coral shades but perfect to add a bit of summer to your Autumn/Winter look. At this time of year and the coming months, dresses and outfits seem to be mainly black, especially party dresses, and so I think it is important to add a slick of fabulous colour to your lips to stand out a little from the rest.

Pink Tease

This reminds me of a raspberry pink shade, a hint of a red underneath but definitely predominately pink. Another great colour to go with a black outfit, or with a floral silky blouse and a pair of jeans. All of the Playboy lipsticks are super creamy and long lasting, and I find that they certainly don’t dry my lips out, which some lipsticks tend to do.

What shades of lipstick do you prefer? Have you tried any of the Playboy Cosmetics range? If so, let me know in the comments below.

Topshop Cheek Jelly

Topshop’s make-up range seems to be going from strength to strength, with more and more products coming out. They’re latest release are these fabulous Cheek Jellies! Now I must admit I haven’t ever really tried or possibly ever seen a Cheeky Jelly, but here at The Kats Paws, I like to give anything a whirl for you readers.

The Cheek Jelly comes in five shades and here are three of my favourites –

Beep – This is possibly the brightest red in the collection and really does give you rosy red cheeks, the colour reminds me a little of a bright red Mini car, which may be why they called it Beep!

Museum – This is a purple/brown colour, more brown than purple – which may sound a little scary for the cheeks, but used to give a bit of colour to the cheeks, or on darker skins, this is perfect.

Phenomenon – Orangey/red in colour, this Jelly is a perfect shade for all skin tones and all occasions – perfect for day, or build it up more for an evening look.

The cheek gels deliver sheer, buildable, easy-to-use colour to create a natural, healthy flush. You can blend out the texture for a wash of colour, or smooth over the skin for a glossy finish to add depth and dimension to the skin.

To use, you simply apply directly to the cheeks or lips (I love love love multi-use products!) with a brush or your fingertips for a diffused, rosy glow or slick along your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose for added dimension.

The Cheeky Jelly costs £7 each and is available online at and in stores.

Make Up Academy Latest Haul

I know that so many of you are mad for the Make Up Academy at Superdrug, and so am I – the quality and prices are amazing and they are always bringing out fab new colours and products. I love the fact that the pieces are so affordable that you can try out colours or products you wouldn’t necessarily want to spend a lot of money on. Here are my current faves…

Kiss Proof Lip Stain in Kissalicious – This costs £3 and so in MUA terms, it is one of the higher-priced products (crazy huh?). It is a felt-tip type pen that is super easy to apply leaving a gorgeous pale pink stain.

Luxe Power Brow in Mid Brown – Another £3 product, this is from the Luxe range. On one end is the brown crayon tip to colour in the brow, and on the other end is a highlighter crayon, which you apply underneath the brow to give a lifting effect. Definitely my new fave!

Winter Forest Matte Palette – This was £4 on offer and I just had to purchase it! The colours have been updated and include gorgeous greens, browns, nudes, greys and blues, which are perfect for creating a variety of looks this coming Autumn and Winter.

Blusher in Candy Floss – One of the MUA star £1 products, this blusher did look a little pinker on the website, but I actually think it is better looking in real life. It is more of a mauve/rose pink but it suits my skin colour really well.

Cover & Conceal Wand in Fair – I have been using Rimmel and Collection Cosmetics concealers recently, and there is nothing wrong with them at all, but at £1.50 I thought I would try the MUA version out. I went for the shade Fair as it is always best to go a shade lighter than your foundation to give a luminous glow.

Matte Foundation in Soft Sand – I added this to my basket as it was in the sale to just £1! I do tend to use higher-end foundations but my skin has been a little oilier lately and so I wanted to try a matte foundation out.

Out There Plumping Lip Gloss in Nude – Another £1 sale bargain, this nude coloured lip gloss is great for everyday glossiness without too much colour. It comes with a wand applicator and so is easy to apply.

Lipsticks £1 each – I chose Flamingo which is a really pretty pink colour, and two Matte Lipsticks in shades Lilac Belle and Peachy Keen. Obviously Lilac Belle is a lilac colour, which is a shade I have wanted to try and at just £1 it was a must-have and Peachy Keen is actually a re-purchase as I love the corally colour so much!

Velvet Lip Lacquer in Tranquillity – This is another item that is part of the Luxe range from MUA and costs £3. I went for the shade Tranquillity as it is a really natural peachy pink colour although they do have some gorgeous bright pink and red shades which I am planning on getting when all the festive parties arrive.

Intense Colour Eyeliner in Lovely Lilac – These eyeliners cost just £1 and I am loving the lilac shades at the moment and thought this would really outline my eyes when using pretty lilac eyeshadow colours.

Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette – My last product in this haul, and another £1 beauty. This eyebrow pencil is great for touching up and shaping the brows!

Are you hoping to try any of these fab products?

B. Cosmetics New Releases

I have seen the B. Cosmetics range plenty of times in my local Superdrug store and have often wanted to try the sleek-looking products. Today I am going to share with you a few of their new releases…

B. Flawless Long-Lasting Concealer in Light/Medium

This is a patterned charcoal grey tube, on which you pop off the lid to reveal a mirrored casing which holds the twist-up concealer. The concealer itself is a good-coverage, moisturising formula that has a slanted edge for easy application on the go. When at home, I tend to use a really thin-tipped brush to blend in the concealer and this product works perfect for that.

B. Lipstick in Gothika

I think this is my favourite product from the new range – it is a mirrored tube emblazoned with black birds and branches. To access the lipstick you click on the bottom upwards which pushes out the internal tube which can then be twisted upwards ready for application and then pop it back up to close it. I think this is such a good idea as it stops the lid coming off in your make-up bag or handbag and so is mess-free. The colour Gothika is a stunning dark rose/plum colour which I think will be a great statement-maker this Autumn/Winter.

B. Complete Eyeshadow Palette

This palette also has the black birds and branches decoration on the lid of it, which I love, as I love most things with birds on! Super pretty. Inside the palette there is a nude primer (good thinking B!) and three pretty eyeshadows. I love the fact that it has a primer included as it makes it easy to pack for weekends away, holidays etc. The colours include a mauve which is quite a matte finish, a slightly shimmering lilac, and a gold shimmery lighter lilac and so you can create a whole range of different looks with this palette.

The B. range is available in Superdrug stores and online at

What do you think to this season’s Gothic makeup looks?

W7 Cosmetics

I have done posts and reviews on W7 cosmetics before and they have always proved really quite popular and so I thought I would do a little update on my favourite Autumn/Winter products.

Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Palette in Out On The Town £6.95 – This is an eyeshadow palette which features seven matte and shimmering neutral shades, including pretty creams, nudes, golds, browns and blacks.

It has a mirror inside the compact and is a fab idea to take you from day to night for all those upcoming festive events.

Crème De La Crème Cream Blush in Rosy £3.95 – I love cream blushers as you can totally control whether you are wanting a light, fresh look, or a more heavier, defined one.

This cream blush is in the shade Rosy, which is a gorgeous pink rose colour, and is perfect for that rosy cheek look this Autumn/Winter – I much prefer to fake my flushed cheeks than go outside in the cold!

Style Eyes Brow & Lash Shaping Gel £4.95 – A great multi-functional product, this gel is made for shaping the eyebrows as well as being able to be used on the lashes for a natural look.

I would tend to add a bit of eyebrow shading, followed by the Style Eyes Gel and then finished off with a touch of eyebrown pencil.

Butter Kiss Lipstick in Red Tulip £4.50 – Ohhhhhh I do so love the range of colours in the Butter Kiss range, they are so so pretty. This is definitely more of a pink shade than a red (as the name may suggest otherwise) and gives great buildable coverage on the lips.

The Butter Kiss Lipsticks are super creamy and moisturising and keep your lips in tip-top condition.

I have a very special W7 product review coming on The Kats Paws very soon so make sure you keep those peepers peeled!

KIKO Cosmetics

KIKO is not a brand I have tried before, but I was recently lucky enough to try five of the products from their new range. For those of you who haven’t come across KIKO Cosmetics before, here is a little about the brand…

Daring Game Face Brush £15.90

This is such a different styled brush to those I have come across before. It has a unique heart shape within the black and white bristles and is perfect for applying face powders.

Due to the shape, it enables you to apply brightener and bronzer in one single step – yay another multi-use tool! It also comes with a plastic bristles cover which is really handy for when you are popping it in your make-up bag as it protects both the brush and your other products. The bristles are synthetic fibres and are flexible and really strong for applying powders. Definitely my new favourite brush, I love the way it glides across my cheeks.

Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadow in Shades 22 & 31 £7.90 each

Shade 22 Fine Jade is a gorgeous Christmassy green and Shade 31 Tasteful Indigo is a true blue colour. They are in the shape of an eyeshadow crayon, which I find really quick and easy to use. The creamy, smooth formula goes on perfectly to give a really intense colour, or if a lighter colour is required, simply use less pressure upon application.

Another thing I love about these eyeshadow crayons is that they are blendable, and so you can use a couple of shades to create a totally different look. I found that the colour lasted all day, without smudging or fading, which I don’t often get with other similar products.

Ace of Diamond Lip Pencil £5.90

I was sent shade 32 Dainty Oleander Rose, which is a really pretty pale pink. I have never really used a lip pencil before and this is a great nude pink shade to start me off with. It is a thin crayon type container, with a twist up applicator and a really soft and smooth formula that has a sharp point to produce a really neat line.

As with the eyeshadows, I found that with this lip pencil, the colour was long-lasting, without signs of smudging or fading – so I don’t go around looking smeared as a clown after a long day entertaining kids! You even get a sharpener in the packaging so that you can keep the lip pencil point in tip-top condition.

Mystery Smoky Eye Pencil £6.90

I have shade 6 Powerful Burgundy, which I am really pleased about as I have wanted to try different coloured eyeliners rather than plain black. This eyeliner has a gorgeous creamy texture that glides on my eyeline perfectly and effortlessly.

It looks great with lashings of mascara or blended in to a smoky eye and gives a fabulous depth to the eyes. Now the casing is something else! It is the usual pencil but is covered in a gorgeous gold toned case that protects the product and looks fab in your clutch on an evening out.
