Tresemme Hair Care – New Products

My hair is currently in a bit of a mess…I haven’t had it cut since summer, firstly because I am skint and secondly because I am trying to grow it after having it cut fairly short. I recently dyed it brown, which is my natural colour as my highlights were seriously growing out and I wanted it all the same colour. Therefore I am concentrating on haircare in order to get my hair back to its best.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic

It is just as important to keep your scalp healthy as it is your hair, as this is what helps your hair to grow, and the Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic is a soothing treatment but also helps to to promote hair growth. You simply use the fine tipped nozzle to apply the Tonic directly to the scalp and massage in whilst the hair is damp, and then style as normal. I do tend to get dry, itchy skin on my scalp and so this feel really cooling and smoothing and I find that the initial relief is instant and with continued use of the Tonic, my scalp has been less dry and not half as irritated.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic contains Tea Tree Extract as well as Sunflower Oil to rebalance and nourish on a cellular level. Personally I am sometimes a little wary about hair products in case they make my hair greasy but this is such a lightweight treatment that once the cooling effect has worn off you can not feel it in your hair or on your scalp at all.

Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray

The Tresemme Youth Boost collection is designed to treat the first signs of ageing hair, hair which lacks body and is dry and dull. This specialist solution is weightlessly infused with Omega-3 and antioxidents and helps to recharge your hair with fullness, softness and shine. The formula instantly lifts hair from the roots for fuller and thicker looking hair, and it actually works instantly, which I loved and it didn’t make my hair feel weighed down or greasy.

Millie decided to photobomb whilst I was taking photos!

After shampooing and conditioning the hair, spray 10-12 pumps of the Emulsion Spray to wet hair, directly at the roots to cover the whole scalp. Then gently massage the formula in with your fingertips. I recommend blow drying with a vent brush as this will help create added fullness and will help to lift the hair from the roots for amazing volume.

The Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic costs £5.50 and the Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray costs £6.99 and are both available at http://www.boots.com and you can also check out the full Tresemme range at http://www.tresemme.co.uk

Bouffe Dry Spray

I love dry shampoos, and I more or less use them every day, whether it is to freshen up my hair, to fragrance it or to add a bit of texture and volume to the hair. I recently gave Bouffe Dry Spray a whirl and this is how I got on.

Bouffe is a dry spray that you apply to the roots to give instant volume for your hair. It comes in a variety of shades from clear and light blonde, all the way to black. The bonus of the coloured options is that it’s able to cover any grey hairs or root growth while it’s delivering the instant root lift.

FullSizeRender-161

To use Bouffe, you simply roughly section the hair, spray the Dry Spray into the roots, and then massage it in with your fingers. It is pretty simple and you use it like any dry shampoo. If you are using a coloured one, just make sure you avoid spraying any in the hair line and rinse your hands when you’ve finished. I also made the mistake of using a coloured dry spray without taking precaution last year on holiday – I popped my brand new lilac Ralph Lauren polo shirt on and then liberally sprayed the dry spray on all over my hair – it went all over my new polo shirt as well and didn’t come out, which was pretty upsetting at the time!

Bouffe feels really light in the hair and I found that it doesn’t mattify the texture too much, so you can still have shiny hair if you want it. If you don’t need root cover-up I’d recommend the colourless one as I think it could get messy if you keep touching your roots. If you need a colour then make sure you also purchase the Bouffe Fixing Spray which seals the colour and locks in volume.

I would definitely re-purchase this dry shampoo spray although I am currently testing a few different ones out so keep your eyes peeled for more Dry Shampoo reviews.

What are your favourite dry shampoo products?

Check out the full Bouffe Dry Spray range at www.boots.com – The dry spray is £5.99 and the Fixing Spray is £3.99.

Luxurious Volume Hair Care by John Frieda

No matter what products I use, my hair is often flat as a pancake. No amount of fluffing and poufing and spraying helps. Therefore I was very excited to try out the new Luxurious Volume range by John Frieda.

Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner

The first Luxurious Volume products I tried were the Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner. The shampoo is designed to gently cleanse your hair to remove any product residue to leave your hair clean, fresh and volumised. This is something I like in a shampoo as it feels like it is actually doing it’s job properly. Even though it creates a good lather, this shampoo is very easy to wash out and leaves your hair feeling lovely and refreshed.

Image

After shampooing I then used the Touchably Full Conditioner. The conditioner is meant to give weightless conditioning to leave your hair feeling soft and full of volume. Despite the consistency being quite thin, this conditioner left my hair feeling really soft and healthy. These two products worked really well together and I loved the natural looking lift they give the roots of my hair. I also noticed that the lengths of my hair were much fuller looking and not limp as they so often are.

Luxurious Volume Fine To Full Blow-Out Spray

The Fine To Full Blow-Out Spray is a pump action bottle which I love because I always think that the aerosol sprays have an alcohol/chemical smell to them, whereas this smells fresh and invigorating, much like the shampoo and conditioner. I spray the product on to my hair before blow drying and I found that it doesn’t weigh the hair down but still gives it volume throughout. You can also double this with a styling cream if you want to curl or flat iron your hair after blow drying.

You can purchase the Luxurious Volume range by John Frieda from stores such as Superdrug, Boots and leading supermarkets. The Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner retail at £5.99 each and the Fine To Full Blow-Out Spray retails at £6.99.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara

Has anyone ever asked you the question ‘If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one item of make up, what would it be?’ Without a doubt, my answer would be mascara. It’s just an amazing invention really, isn’t it? If I’m having a no make up day and have to pop to the shops, I’m the type of person who still routes around in my bag for a quick coat of mascara before leaving the house.

There are so many mascaras out there that choosing one can be a fairly daunting task. Each claims to do something another doesn’t. Volume, length, coverage, separation, false lash effect, blacker than black, new formula, new scientific brush proven to do everything you can ever think of… They claim to do a LOT.

Therefore, I’m always on the look out to try something new, something that really DOES do everything it says on the tin and gives you the the world’s best lashes.

I tried out the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara, in Black Tea.

My first impressions weren’t great. The mascara is in a lovely silver, shiny tube which looks really expensive, but it comes in a cardboard tube packaging, which, in all honesty, looks like a tampon. I apologise, but it’s true.

20140424-105209.jpg

The tube itself though is lovely. The silver packaging makes it look really high end and the inscriptions on the tube are a lovely touch.

20140424-105724.jpg

The brush itself is really great. I’m a big fan of a thin, long brush, as I personally think it gives the longest lash effect, which is then easy to build upon for the volume you desire. Therefore, this was great.

20140424-105410.jpg

The Black tea fragrance wasn’t unpleasant but it wasn’t great. It smelt slightly like tea, but it wasn’t a smell that I instantly wanted to apply to my eyes. Slightly odd, but as I say, not exactly unpleasant.

The mascara is 100% natural, which is something that really attracts me to the product, and claims to lengthen, separate, thicken and gloss lashes using black tea, chocolate and berry pigments. Sounds more like a cake than a mascara, but a really good cake all the same.

It is gentle, containing provitamin B5, Vitamin E, oat and wheat protein which straightens the lashes. As I say, it claims to do a whole lot of stuff, yet there’s still something I’m not too sure about.

Yes, it’s extremely glossy, it separates the lashes and lengthens, but I felt like I had zero volume. It is a very natural looking mascara, which is ideal for day to day use but I wanted just that bit more volume for it to appeal.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t purchase this product myself, although the brand is brilliant. They also do blushes, lip products, eyeshadow, lip products and creams which I’d love to try out soon.

The mascara is £15, and would be perfect for vegans and people who love natural make up as it really is 100% Pure!

Jo Hansford Haircare

Shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz, volumising, smoothing, anti-dandruff, styling gel, wax, mousse, spray….The world of hair care is a complex one. Different results, fragrances, brands, prices from 30p to £35 a bottle and probably higher. Where on earth do we start? Here at The Kats Paws, we like to try products out for you and make your purchase decisions a little easier. We were recently sent some hair care products from Jo Hansford. Jo Hansford was recently voted the best hair salon in London by the Mayfair Awards and is renowned for expert hair colouring and styling. The company have released a compact range of styling products, with something for every need but without too much choice, which for me is perfect as I think in some situations, too much choice is not a positive thing. The range includes shampoo, conditioner, masks, oils and a handy travel range. I tried out the Volumising Shampoo and the Everyday Conditioner, which at £15 and £17 are at a higher price point than your average Supermarket hair care brands but cheaper than the likes of Aveda and Kerastase. Both of these items are made in the UK and contain UV filters which is good for when the sunshine comes out to play, which hopefully and eventually it will soon :). The bottles are packaged in card boxes with a simple but classy cream, gold and brown colour scheme and are both 250ml bottles.

Image

The fragrance of the products was so fresh, clean and invigorating, which was perfect for waking me up a little after a bad night’s sleep due to a bad cold and cough, and lathered well without feeling too soapy. The only down side to the bottles is that it a screw cap, which for me is a bit finnicky when youre trying to wash your hair, but thats just a minor niggle. The conditioner looked quite thick as it came out of the bottle, which worried me as I thought it might make my hair lank and greasy, but once I smoothed it on my hair, I was actually quite surprised as it felt light and fresh. As neither the shampoo or conditioner had that cheap, soapy feel, they seemed to wash out really well and didnt feel like they had left any residue, which does tend to make my hair lank.

ImageImage

I dried my hair as normal, without using a blow dry brush, just the regular hairdryer, and my hair looked healthy, shiny, and had volume without feeling too built up. Very pleased with the result although for me personally, it is something I would purchase as a treat rather than to use on a daily basis at this price point. Here is a picture of me after my blowdry, rocking my Adnan Januzaj necklace from Tatty Devine. For those that know me, I love football and often go to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United, and Januzaj is my favourite player and so I had this made direct from Tatty Devine as a Christmas present. So my lazy Sunday is going to be spent sniffling, coughing, watching Manchester United on the television and trying out some new snacks, on which I shall be reporting on that later. Please excuse the roots as I am growing my hair out 🙂 and the braces! haha!

Have a lovely Sunday whatever you are doing

Sleep In Rollers

We were recently sent a set of Sleep In Rollers, which are PERFECT for any upcoming Christmas party or for New Year’s Eve! I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get this online, a few of you may have seen on our Twitter how excited we were about them and I’ve been super busy so have only just got around to completing the blog post!

20131218-115344.jpg

For a while now, I’ve been looking up different brands and reviews to find the best ones to use. Although I have naturally horrific curly hair, the larger sleek curled look is something I always struggle to achieve.

The Sleep In Rollers are a god send as you don’t have to sit around for hours waiting for your hair to set, or have to be seen in public wearing them. You simply stick them in before bed then sleep on them.

I did think that these would be extremely uncomfortable, but they weren’t as bad as you would imagine. I did wake up a few times due to discomfort, but i sleep on my front meaning I could angle the pillow around my head. They’re also soft so you don’t have hard bits of metal sticking in your head.

Now, I don’t think I used mine quite right the first time round, as although I had more volume, the curls weren’t the best. I think you need to use them a good couple of times to really get the nack for them!

How to Use:

•Section your hair into parts, equal side sections and then one section through the centre

•Begin with the middle section, starting with the front and take about a 2cm width section and begin to curl around the roller from the end upwards to the root. Secure the section with a clip. (Clips do come with the packet but any bobby pin will do.)

•Continue this for the whole front section then both side parted sections from top to bottom. of the parted sections, and again for the back of the hair. The back is the most difficult so i got a friend to help me out.

•Leave curlers in overnight.

•Remove grips and rollers starting from the bottom. Twist the curl around your finger to put it in place then spray with hairspray- My favourites at the minute are VO5 and Umberto Giannini Backcomb spray.

20131218-115408.jpg

We got ours sent from Sleep In Rollers at http://www.sleepinrollers.com. The ultra girly and glamorous glitter rollers that we have are £29.99, which is the gift set including a durable carrier bag. The bag is currently housing all my blog products and is so handy!

Celebrities also love Sleep In Rollers, with stars such as Chloe Sims, Lydia Bright and Jess Wright amongst the fans!

They’re perfect for your Christmas party or as a gift!
