Time Bomb Skincare

I am exhausted most of the time and I am pretty sure it shows on my skin. A shot of vitamin B12 can be a serious boost to energy levels and now Time Bomb has put B12 in their complexion cocktail. As skin ages it doesn’t produce as much protein, lipids or natural moisturising factors. Add that to a tired and stressful life and you get skin that hangs there like a jowly dog, grey, puffy and slack.

FullSizeRender-197

From the Time Bomb range, this Complexion Cocktail contains B12, B3m brown algae, centella – helps with the delivery of oxygen and nutrients – and amino acids. You do not need a lot of the product at all, a few drops will help to tighten the skin and produce a glowy, fresh look. I was super surprised by the effectiveness and powerfulness of the Complexion Cocktail, it really makes you look super rested, even after a few hours sleep.

FullSizeRender-199

The algae and B vitamins help to re-energise and de-puff. The ginseng is meant to increase micro-circulation and it definitely makes skin look tauter. It is suitable for sensitive skin too and if you suffer from rosacea, just use a small amount and you will still see a difference.

The Powerball Intensive Moisturiser is so super hydrating and helps your skin retain the moisture it gives. This is not just any ordinary moisturiser. It is packaged in a cool white ball and inside is the super whipped, super silky cream, a powerhouse blend of 21 natural hydrating agents that promise to refill and revive skin. The cream when applied sinks in instantly and has a wonderful plumping effect, and the magic of it is that the plumping lasts.

FullSizeRender-198

The Powerball describes itself as a watershed moment in the evolution of skin moisturisation and harnesses the hydrating effect of Ectoin, a miracle-working microscopic protein found in the desert.

The Time Bomb Complexion Cocktail costs £24 and the Powerball Intensive Moisturiser costs £36 and both are available from http://www.timebombco.com

Jojoba Company Hydrating Day Cream

With most moisturisers I tend to use them on an evening, as I hate that thick, sticky feeling a lot of moisturisers can leave – which is fine on an evening as I know my skin will be soaking in the goodness, but during the day, moisturisers can tend to make my skin look oily. The Jojoba Company have a light, hydrating cream which is perfect for daytime wear.

FullSizeRender-175

It includes a whole host of amazing ingredients such as;

Pure Australian Jojoba – antioxidant, rich in Vitamins A, D & E, hydrating

Green Tea – calming

Chamomile – soothing, calming

Beta Glucan – nurtures collagen production

Vitamins B & E – antioxidants

Pomegranate – anti-aging, visibly promotes skin elasticity

Siberian Ginseng – tightening, firming

Slik amino acids – peptides, firming proteins

This is a really gentle, long-acting daily moisturiser that helps to restore the skin’s natural suppleness and protects against dehydrating environmental effects, such as weather, pollution and much more. It is suitable for all skin types, and is fine even for my sensitive skin.

FullSizeRender-176

I use the Hydrating Day Cream after I have cleansed and toned my skin, pumping a small amount onto my fingertips and pressing gently onto my face, neck and décolletage. Jojoba is amazing for moisturising and gets really deep into the skin, lasting all day long.

Superdrug Clearly Youthful

October saw the launch of a brand new skincare collection from Superdrug. This new skincare collection is scientifically formulated to target the needs of both ageing and problem skin. Clearly Youthful offers a complete regime of products with both anti-blemish and youth-boosting properties. The collection includes day and night serums, daily moisturiser, peel off glycolic mask, an AHA exfoliating cream cleanser, a triple action cleanser, mask and scrub and an effective blemish gel. I was lucky enough to get the chance to try some of the new products out.

FullSizeRender-169

Hydrating Day Serum £6.99

This serum is scientifically formulated to target the needs of both ageing and problem skin. It is a unique anti-blemish and youth-boosting solution containing the maximum permitted level of spot-fighting active Salicylic Acid, combined with anti-shine Cimicifuga and a potent anti-ageing complex consisting of Lactic Acid, Phytoprotein and a Polyglycan. Sounds a bit confusing, all this science talk doesn’t it and so here are the benefits…

·         The lightweight, silky formula, also with Hyaluronic Acid, infuses moisture deep within the skin, helping to boost complexion radiance and suppleness

·         Resurfaces skin’s texture, refines pores and boosts skin’s radiance and suppleness

·         Controls excess sebum and provides long-term sebum regulation

·         Minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

·         Protects against further breakouts with continued use

FullSizeRender-168

The Hydrating Day Serum instantly makes the skin feel hydrated and makes it look more radiant and refreshed. I found that after just one week, my pores were visibly minimised and my skin looked clearer and healthier. I haven’t got as far as week 4 yet, but the product promises to visibly reduce the appearance of blemishes and the skin appears firmer and plumper. I love the word plump. Plump plump plump.

Resurfacing Night Serum £6.99

Like the Hydrating Day Serum, this product is also scientifically formulated to target the needs of both ageing and problem skin. It has exactly the same solution as the Hydrating Day Cream but formulated for use during the night.

Benefits include;

·         The highly concentrated formula, also containing a superior collagen boosting Tetrapeptide and an anti-pigmenting active Red Algae Extract, works while you sleep helping to replenish and nourish.

·         Resurfaces skin’s texture, refines pores and evens out skin tone

·         Controls excess sebum and provides long-term sebum regulation

·         Protects against further breakouts with continued use

·         Diminishes the appearance of age spots and hyperpigmentation

So as you can see, it has similar properties to the Day Serum but is slightly more concentrated and so working together, these products will definitely show you results.

FullSizeRender-166

To use the Night Serum, I apply 2-3 drops of the Serum after cleansing my face, and with my fingertips I simply apply to my face in a circular motion until it is fully absorbed.

Triple Action Cleanser, Mask & Scrub £5.99

Clearly Youthful Triple Action Cleanser, Mask & Scrub is a rich, purifying and nourishing formula with Vitamin E, which effectively removes make-up and impurities for a refreshed and radiant complexion. It is an additional product to the Day and Night Serums and it’s particular benefits include;

·         Skin feels softer and smoother

·         Skin looks clearer and radiant

·         Pores look visibly minimised

·         Skin looks visibly clearer and healthier

·         Skin’s texture is visibly more refined

·         Blemishes/redness appear visibly reduced

FullSizeRender-167

To use this product as a cleanser and scrub, apply to a wet face in upwards circular motions, and then rinse away with clean warm water. Alternatively, to use as a mask apply a thin layer to damp skin and leave on for 5-10 minutes, rinse away with clean warm water.

Amie Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturiser

The last Amie post here at The Kats Paws was done by my friend Emma and I think that was quite a while ago and so I wanted to add another as I love Amie products and they also look super-cute on your bathroom shelf.

I recently tried out the Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturiser (£4.95), which is a pretty blend of high-quality plant extracts and skin-friendly natural ingredients, designed to keep your skin soft and moisturised, throughout the day. As my skin can get quite sensitive, I do have to be careful with skincare products, but this Daily Moisturiser gives gentle but effective nourishment to the skin.

FullSizeRender-153

It has a delicate rose-scent and is really easy to apply and absorbed into my skin really quickly, giving it that much-needed drink! As it is a gentle formula, it is great for even those of you with sensitive skin and has extracts of rosehip seed oil, rose extract and mallow.

Key natural extracts include:

Rosa Canina Fruit Oil – This is the pressed seed oil extracted from the hips of the rose bush which grows wild in the Southern Andes. Rosehip oil contains a list of active ingredients which are beneficial to skin, as well as a high level of essential fatty acids which help the skin hold moisture and reduce dryness.

Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract – An extract from the flowers of the Cabbage Rose, Rosa Centifolia has skin-conditioning and toning effects on the skin.

Malva Sylvestris Extract – The flowers of the mallow plant are well-known for their soothing and softening effect on the skin.

FullSizeRender-152

I found that this Moisturiser worked really well with my skin and left it moisturised throughout the day without being oily or irritating my skin. Another Amie winner!

Have you tried any of the Amie skincare range? Let me know in the comments below and check out the collection at www.amieskincare.com

The Body Shop New Winter Skincare

The Body Shop keep on bringing out fabulous products which I am totally enjoying but my bank balance isn’t haha! Two of their most recent products which I couldn’t wait to try out were the Vitamin C Skin Reviver and the Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate and here is why…

photo-147

The Vitamin C Skin Reviver (£15) is a serum kind of product that can be worn alone or under make-up. The formula contains light-reflective particles to enhance your skin’s natural glow and instantly refreshes and smoothes the skin. I like to use this on a morning and find it gives a silky-smooth finish and some much needed glow after the harshness of the Autumn and Winter weather. Vitamin C is so good for the skin and I find that a small amount of this product is enough for the whole face and neck area. I really enjoyed using the Skin Reviver as I felt much more invigorated in a morning before applying my makeup.

photo-148

Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate (£18) is a fairly new product which I couldn’t wait to try out. It is an eye serum, of which I have tried other brands costing about three of four times the price of this one. It comes in a pen-style container, on which you simply press the pump once which then releases a small amount of the serum onto the metal rollerball. You then roll in a figure of 8 motion around the eye area, gently patting the remainder of the serum in with your fingers. Straight away the metal rollerball makes your eye area feel so much more relaxed and soothed and as I struggle with dark circles and areas of puffiness under my eyes, this concentrate really felt and looked like it had made a difference. It is made with Edelweiss plant stem cells which are renowned for having skin renewal properties in order to help smooth out the appearance of lines, bags and fatigue. I have been using this morning and night and my eyes instantly felt so much more awake and less puffed up and it is fair to say I am now addicted to this product, which is certainly as good as if not better than its outrageously priced cousins!!!!

What are your winter skincare saviours?

Trilogy Blemish Control Gel

Hi Pretties!

Due to some medication I have recently been on, my skin has been plagued with blemishes and so I wanted to try a more natural product than the regular teenage spot treatments. Trilogy Blemish Control Gel is perfect for those of us who are a little older but still suffer from blemishes and breakouts.

 main

Trilogy Blemish Gel contains natural ingredients as well as containing the active acne-clearing ingredient salicylic acid. This is a key ingredient in clearing out those blocked pores and decongesting pimples. Other beneficial ingredients include;

* Rosehip to repair skin and reduce scarring

* Lemongrass and mandarin which are natural antibacterials

* Ginger to reduce inflammation and redness

The combination of these ingredients ensures that your skin is left healthy even when zapping your blemishes. The gel comes in a white tube which is easy to use and the gel itself is quite a thick gel and a little certainly goes a long way. I found that the gel dried quite quickly and I was able to apply my regular foundation over the top.

 open

I found that the Trilogy Blemish Control Gel worked really well for me, and noticed that it does dry my blemishes up quicker than if I simply left them alone. I did experience a slight tightness on my skin when the gel was applied but it didn’t dry my skin out at all.

Trilogy Blemish Control Gel is available at www.trilogyproducts.com for £12.50

Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Cream

This moisturising cream, which I have recently been trying out, has a gently creamy texture that provides ultimate skin comfort and immediate soothing benefits. With its original balance restored, the skin regains a softer, smoother, more supple feel and a radiant appearance and is perfect for those with sensitive skin, just like me.

 main

I found that this cream didn’t dry my skin out and provided a really good moisture boost that was much needed. After my morning application I noticed that the cream provided me with enough hydration to ensure I wouldn’t need to reapply until the evening. Even though the formula is rich it still feels quite light to touch and sinks into the skin really easily and smoothly and there was no grease or oil left after application.

 open

Another thing I was really pleased with was that my skin didn’t seem to break out whilst trying out this cream, which is something that happens every month just before my period. I read some reviews on the cream that said the scent was too strong, but I really didn’t find this at all and thought it quite nice, light and refreshing.

I would definitely recommend the Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Cream for those of you with dry, sensitive skin and I can’t wait to show you my other products from the Eau Thermale Avene range.

The Avene website is www.avene.co.uk and you can pick up this gorgeous cream amongst many other fab skincare.
