Tresemme Hair Care – New Products

My hair is currently in a bit of a mess…I haven’t had it cut since summer, firstly because I am skint and secondly because I am trying to grow it after having it cut fairly short. I recently dyed it brown, which is my natural colour as my highlights were seriously growing out and I wanted it all the same colour. Therefore I am concentrating on haircare in order to get my hair back to its best.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic

It is just as important to keep your scalp healthy as it is your hair, as this is what helps your hair to grow, and the Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic is a soothing treatment but also helps to to promote hair growth. You simply use the fine tipped nozzle to apply the Tonic directly to the scalp and massage in whilst the hair is damp, and then style as normal. I do tend to get dry, itchy skin on my scalp and so this feel really cooling and smoothing and I find that the initial relief is instant and with continued use of the Tonic, my scalp has been less dry and not half as irritated.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic contains Tea Tree Extract as well as Sunflower Oil to rebalance and nourish on a cellular level. Personally I am sometimes a little wary about hair products in case they make my hair greasy but this is such a lightweight treatment that once the cooling effect has worn off you can not feel it in your hair or on your scalp at all.

Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray

The Tresemme Youth Boost collection is designed to treat the first signs of ageing hair, hair which lacks body and is dry and dull. This specialist solution is weightlessly infused with Omega-3 and antioxidents and helps to recharge your hair with fullness, softness and shine. The formula instantly lifts hair from the roots for fuller and thicker looking hair, and it actually works instantly, which I loved and it didn’t make my hair feel weighed down or greasy.

Millie decided to photobomb whilst I was taking photos!

After shampooing and conditioning the hair, spray 10-12 pumps of the Emulsion Spray to wet hair, directly at the roots to cover the whole scalp. Then gently massage the formula in with your fingertips. I recommend blow drying with a vent brush as this will help create added fullness and will help to lift the hair from the roots for amazing volume.

The Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic costs £5.50 and the Tresemme Youth Boost Fullness Emulsion Spray costs £6.99 and are both available at and you can also check out the full Tresemme range at

Have you tried any products from the Tresemme range? What are your favourites?

Kevin.Murphy Haircare

The Kevin.Murphy line of haircare first caught my eye because of their unusual bottle design. Each bottle is a neat rectangle with the lid on the bottom left side, not your average bottle of shampoo. I love trying higher-end haircare products and so I chose the range for fine coloured hair like mine. The range for this kind of hair is the Angel range – pretty name, pretty bottle, pretty coloured bottles.

Angel Wash (shampoo) and Angel Rinse (conditioner) are as mentioned, specifically for the fine-haired, whether you colour it or keep it natural. This range is also good for people with fragile or damaged hair due to chemical processes, e.g. you blondes out there.

The Angel Wash is a gentle volumising cleanser and helps with colour retention. Milk proteins in the formula helps calm frizzy hair that has suffered from long-term exposure to chemical processes. The colour of the Wash actually matches the bottle too, it is a pretty mauve pink.

The Angel Rinse is a light-weight, volumising conditioner which adds moisture to dry, tired ends, as well as helping to repair fragile hair. It feels really smooth when you apply it and I recommend massaging the product well.

Not part of the Angel range, but never-the-less no less hair-repairing is the Born Again Essential Treatment. Now this is such a unique product that contains ingredients which are so small in their molecular size and weight, they can pass into the cortex of the hair instantly. Now this product is strictly for hair that is extremely damaged or dehydrated to really give it that mega boost and treatment. You can use this product in the shower if you are in a rush or enjoy it in a relaxed bath whilst you are having a bit of a pamper session as you can leave it on for 2 to 20 minutes.

My hair tends to tangle a lot after washing but I noticed after using the Angel range, my hair didn’t have one single knot in it, so brushing was much more pleasant! I have used so many volumising haircare products, but this range added volume to my hair without making it feel heavy with product. I have also noticed that my ends are much softer and not as dry. I genuinely did feel a difference with this haircare range and my hair feels a lot less limp and miserable. Making me a happy girly.

You can purchase all of the Kevin.Murphy range at where the Angel Wash costs £16.95, the Angel Rinse costs £18 and the Born Again treatment costs £27. These products may be a little higher in cost than a lot of the high street branded haircare, but that’s because they have ingredients in them that genuinely work.

Klorane Haircare

My hair has been in a dried-out state lately, often resembling a bird’s nest – not a good look! Therefore I wanted to try haircare that contained natural ingredients. I came across Klorane…

KLORANE Laboratories, a pioneering and committed brand, observes a strict code of conduct based on respect for:

  • Pharmaceutical ethics, applying extreme levels of rigour in all stages of product development
  • Botanical expertise, essential to a brand that only produces products formulated with plant extracts
  • Authenticity, one of the founding values of the brand and the fierce determination to protect our plant heritage

The shampoo I chose was the Almond Milk one, which has volume-enhancing properties and lipopeptides, which coat and restructure the hair to give it more volume. It also has an ultra-gentle, detangling emulsifying base with almond milk to leave the hair feeling soft and shiny. With my gentle hair I often suffer from static electricity, but the Almond Milk Shampoo helps to neutralise this. I jumped in the shower and poured a walnut-sized amount of shampoo into my palm, and worked it into my hair, the formula was luxuriously creamy but didn’t feel heavy or sticky on my hair.

klorane sc

I rinsed off and then added the conditioner, Oat Milk Conditioner. As it is formulated with oat milk, this conditioner is kind to the scalp and suitable for all hair types. It felt more like a balm than a conditioner, and I massaged it into my hair and left for a few minutes so that it could work its magic before I rinsed it off.

After drying my hair, I usually have a very static, rough end result, but after using this shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt silky soft, I had no tangles, which is something I also suffer from, and my split ends weren’t sticking out. I was that impressed that I didn’t even need to run the straighteners through to calm the split ends, which is helping my hair by using less heat on it.

I often use other dry shampoos, as my hair doesn’t like being washed everyday, and so I often use dry shampoo to refresh my hair. I tried out the Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I sprayed a small amount over my hair and left for a couple of minutes, and then brushed through my hair to remove any traces of powder residue. With some dry shampoos I have tried before they often leave a powdery feel to my hair, but this one left nothing but softness. I have honestly been that impressed with the Klorane range that I have already ordered my second supply!

Happy Monday!

Pink Parcel

Let’s face it, boys have it so much easier than us girls! Every single month, without fail (hopefully!), we get moody, and emotional and very very sensitive, as well as having stomach cramps, hot flushes and generally feeling like we should be allowed a week off work for duvet days! Pink Parcel makes our monthly visits much more bearable!

You simply visit their website and enter your cycle dates, but don’t worry if you don’t know them exactly as you can also choose a date for when to receive your Pink Parcel. Each month through the letter box you will receive your Pink Parcel and inside there are three separate compartments.

The first compartment comprises of a little drawstring pouch to pop into your handbag or schoolbag with a selection of various tampons or towels for those emergency situations – I can often start my period with no warning whatsoever! You can choose which brand of towels or tampons you would like to receive.

The second compartment comprises of two boxes of your chosen towels or tampons to keep you going throughout the week.

The third compartment is without doubt, my absolute favourite! It is called the ‘For You’ box and the contents change monthly. This month though I received a Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm, a mini Dove deodorant, a Soap and Glory mini conditioner, two sachets of Skinade, which is made into a drink and is great for your skin, especially with period breakouts, a mini bar of organic chocolate and a teapigs chamomile tea! Therefore you can pamper yourself, look after your skin and indulge in some chocolate and tea time!

I honestly think this box is such a wonderful idea, I get really bad stomach cramps when it’s my turn every month and absolutely dread my periods, but this will really make them so much better as I have a parcel to look forward to and things to treat myself with. I also think this is a fabulous idea for younger girls who have not started their periods yet and is a good introduction to periods, rather than looking at it as something scary and life changing.

You can get your very own Pink Parcel for £5.95 plus free post and packaging for the first box and then £9.95 plus free post and packaging thereafter. Some of you may think it is a tad expensive for ‘tampons’ but I think it is so much more than that, and unless they are on offer, I don’t find tampons particularly cheap either to say they are such a necessity!

So don’t forget to visit and make sure you are able to actually look forward to your next monthly visit!

Jo Hansford Haircare

Shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz, volumising, smoothing, anti-dandruff, styling gel, wax, mousse, spray….The world of hair care is a complex one. Different results, fragrances, brands, prices from 30p to £35 a bottle and probably higher. Where on earth do we start? Here at The Kats Paws, we like to try products out for you and make your purchase decisions a little easier. We were recently sent some hair care products from Jo Hansford. Jo Hansford was recently voted the best hair salon in London by the Mayfair Awards and is renowned for expert hair colouring and styling. The company have released a compact range of styling products, with something for every need but without too much choice, which for me is perfect as I think in some situations, too much choice is not a positive thing. The range includes shampoo, conditioner, masks, oils and a handy travel range. I tried out the Volumising Shampoo and the Everyday Conditioner, which at £15 and £17 are at a higher price point than your average Supermarket hair care brands but cheaper than the likes of Aveda and Kerastase. Both of these items are made in the UK and contain UV filters which is good for when the sunshine comes out to play, which hopefully and eventually it will soon :). The bottles are packaged in card boxes with a simple but classy cream, gold and brown colour scheme and are both 250ml bottles.

The fragrance of the products was so fresh, clean and invigorating, which was perfect for waking me up a little after a bad night’s sleep due to a bad cold and cough, and lathered well without feeling too soapy. The only down side to the bottles is that it a screw cap, which for me is a bit finnicky when youre trying to wash your hair, but thats just a minor niggle. The conditioner looked quite thick as it came out of the bottle, which worried me as I thought it might make my hair lank and greasy, but once I smoothed it on my hair, I was actually quite surprised as it felt light and fresh. As neither the shampoo or conditioner had that cheap, soapy feel, they seemed to wash out really well and didnt feel like they had left any residue, which does tend to make my hair lank.

I dried my hair as normal, without using a blow dry brush, just the regular hairdryer, and my hair looked healthy, shiny, and had volume without feeling too built up. Very pleased with the result although for me personally, it is something I would purchase as a treat rather than to use on a daily basis at this price point. Here is a picture of me after my blowdry, rocking my Adnan Januzaj necklace from Tatty Devine. For those that know me, I love football and often go to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United, and Januzaj is my favourite player and so I had this made direct from Tatty Devine as a Christmas present. So my lazy Sunday is going to be spent sniffling, coughing, watching Manchester United on the television and trying out some new snacks, on which I shall be reporting on that later. Please excuse the roots as I am growing my hair out 🙂 and the braces! haha!

Have a lovely Sunday whatever you are doing

Christmas Stocking Fillers

I personally am SO glad its that festive time of year. Much to my colleague’s annoyance, I have already been belting out Let It Snow and Jingle Bells, organising the Christmas work lunch, and also organising my work to take part in National Christmas Jumper Day, which is on Friday 13th December in aid of Save The Children.

This post is to give you some ideas for gifts this year. There are SO many sales on already, and such a choice of things to buy its making my head spin! So, here they are, some of our favourites…

Below, we have…

1: Anatomicals Face Masks – This pack is a set of three, in fun bright comical packaging, and at only £3 per pack, they are great to give the friend who’s definitely going to be suffering from a hang over on Christmas Day.

2: Manuka Doctor Rejuvenating Face Mask – Christmas is a very stressful time of year and there’s nothing better than layering on a luxurious face mask, laying in a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine. Heaven is cheap at £29.99 for 50ml.

3: Yankee Candles Samplers – £1.75 each. Surely EVERYONE loves Yankee Candles, and they come in such a variety of fragrances. I love to get the samplers as then I can try them all and decide which are my favourites. I have opted for seasonal fragrances – Sugared Apple, Home Sweet Home and Apple & Pine Needle.

4: Faith In Nature Skin Care Minis Pack – One of the things that suffers the most in winter is our skin, and this nifty little set (£12.99) includes a hand cream, an intensive moisturising cream and a replenishing moisturising cream, packaged in a fresh green gift bag.

5: Naisture Collagen Mask – These come in packs of 5 for £10 and are soooooooo refreshing and really give your skin a boost. perfect gift for teenage girls or stressed out Mums!

Next up we have a few party prep essentials…

1: Kiss Everlash MD Serum – I shall be doing a review on this soon. It is an innovative blend of peptides, nucleotides and vitamins to help lashes appear longer and healthier.

2: Barry M Glamour Puss Eye Shadow & Blush Palette – For only £6.49 you get seven sparkly eyeshadows, a gorgeous pink blusher and two double ended sponge applicators.

3: Primark Pink Hairbrush – At only £1, this is a must for every girl’s stocking. Gently tease it through the roots of your hair to give it an instant boost. Or carry on until you resemble Cher. Either or.

4: Paul Mitchell You Look Skinny Today Gift Set – If it’s multi-coloured and sparkly, it’s already won me over, but this gift looks amazing and is very practical too. Inside you receive a full size shampoo, conditioner and serum. £28 per set.

Nails and eyelashes are BIG business all year round, and so for this time of year, let’s go a little more sparkly, a little more daring and a whole lotta sexy….

1: Kiss Peacock Feather Nail Wraps – At £2.99 per pack, these are definitely a cheaper, but no less effective method than going to a salon and spending £30 on having Minx done.

2: Elegant Touch Purple Glitter Press On Nails – The glitter density on these nails is without doubt the best I have seen on press on nails before, it has different shades of lilacs, pinks and purples in to give it a 3D effect. £7.10 per pack.

3: imPRESS Stick On Nails – These require no glue, and have pre-glued sticky patches on, which all you need to do is peel the thin layer off, press on and off you go! Perfect for those last minute parties. I chose Over the Moon (£8.99) which is a pink and purple leopard effect.

4: House Of Holland Press On Nails in Polka Dot It – House of Holland’s nail range is definitely not for shy girls, its for girls who like it loud and proud. These amazing monochrome nails have 3D acrylic dots on them to give that ultimate wow factor. £9 per pack, and these are available in so much funky designs and patterns, definitely worth a look.

5: Kiss Haute Couture Double Pack Lashes – At a bargain price of £8.99 for a pack of TWO, not just ONE, TWO, these lashes are for those looking for a sexy, sultry effect. Wear these and you will definitely be puckering up under the mistletoe.

6: Elegant Touch Little Mix Perrie Press On Nails – Amongst young girls, Little Mix are big news! They have collaborated with Elegant Touch and each girl has brought out nails in her favourite design. I chose Perrie (maybe cos I think that if I have nails like her, I might also get engaged to a member of One Direction) and her design is a blue, purple, green glittered, starry, galaxy, night sky effect. Basically I cannot sum the actual design up, but however you want to describe the, they’re definitely glitzy. (£6)

7: Elegant Touch Envy Wraps Bling – As mentioned previously, nail wraps are so much cheaper to do in the comfort of your own home, and at £5 these are no exception. You do not need to be a nail technician to be able to apply these kinds of products you simply clean the base of the nail, ensure that it is dry, and rub over the wrap until it is nice and secure on your nail. As an extra tip, I find they are easier to work with if you heat each one up with a blast of the hairdryer before hand.

Gifts for the teens, or those young at heart (Emily 🙂 )

1: Handmade Gingerbread Family – My friend Amy Kershaw handmade these and I think they are just the cutest! Mummy Gingerbread with her apron on, Daddy Gingerbread with his bowtie on and Baby Gingerbread with a cute heart. I often think handmade gifts can be so much better than store bought gifts as you know someone has spent their own time and effort into making you something.

2: One Direction Book – This is the latest book from the boys. Myself and Emily change our minds every week on who is our favourite. At work we got Emily a One Direction mug as one of her birthday presents and I’m pretty sure that every couple of days it has turned round to a different boy. Anyway, you can snap this up for just £7 and young girls, and older ones will love flicking through the stunning pictures and learning more about this boy band phenomenon.
(Note from Emily: just to inform you, it’s Liam all the way at the minute! When did he get so hot?!)

3: Lipsmacker Lip Balm – My love affair with Lipsmacker started when I first went to Florida in 1999. They were in all the drugstores over there and came in a variety of flavours, themes and colours. The latest theme they have produced is a Disney theme – who doesn’t love Disney right? This particular Lipsmacker has Daisy Duck on and has a pretty sweet smell. Lipsmackers are great lip balms, and as well as looking pretty and smelling pretty, they leave lips soft and protected. Again, a perfect cheaper priced stocking filler.

4: Anatomicals Snog Me Senseless Mints – This super cute tin of mints will keep your breath fresh for when that mistletoe is lurking around, or in my case on the top of my head boppers ready to pounce into action at any time. A cute, fun and well priced gift at just £1.55.

5: booRah Purple Watch – We had this sent for my Goddaughter Willow to try out. She has been nattering on for ages that she would like a watch, and luckily purple is one of her favourite colours too. This watch is priced at £20 and is available in a range of boy and girl friendly colours. It comes in its own special case and the sizing is great as it will fit a tiny wrist and will still fit as the child grows, with a generous fit.

Ready-Made Gift Bags are great for those last minute presents, or for keeping stock of in case you get that dreaded moment when someone brings you a present and you didn’t realise you were exchanging gifts…

1: L’Occitane My Little Spa – At £18 this isn’t the cheapest of miniature sets but L’Occitane is a very well known brand in the skincare world and for a little bit of luxury this is perfect. This kit includes, Aroma Repairing Shampoo 75ml, Aroma Repairing Conditioner 75ml, Lavender Foaming Bath 100ml, Lavender Fizzy Bath Pebble 50g, Shea Butter Hand Cream 10ml and Shea Butter Foot Cream, all presented in a pretty waterproof cosmetic bag. Perfect for those who travel a lot, or for introducing someone to the brand.

2: Dove Cherish Gift Set – This gift set is priced lower than the L’Occitane one at just £6, but Dove is also a brand that everyone recognises for softness and reliability. Included in this set is, Go Fresh Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena Anti-Perspirant 35ml, Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Wash in Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla 55ml, Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Lotion in Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla 50ml and a shower lily, all encased in a shimmering gold and cream make up bag. If you hurry, the Dove gift sets are 3 for 2 in many supermarkets and chemists at the moment.

Getting Ready To Party….Gifts for ourselves perhaps – just in time to look your best for those glam Christmas parties.

1: Nails Inc Nail Polish – The shade name is The Boltons and to be honest I don’t have a clue why….Anyhoo, it is a deep, rich, metallic red, very festive and perfect for this time of year. It can be worn alone or with a glitter top coat. I am definitely going to give this a whirl with the Nails Inc Snowflake top coat. I think this look will match my outfit for National Christmas Jumper Day really well. Nails Inc polishes are a little more than average priced at £11, but the effects and longevity are definitely worth it.

2: Fake Bake Tinted Body Glow – Surely no one wants a tangerine glow at this time of year, and so Fake Bake have produced this tinted body glow, which gives a healthy looking sheen to the skin, and is perfect for last minute applications. At £6, this luxury branded product is well worth the dosh.

3: Fake Bake Face Polish – As mentioned previously, this harsh cold weather really takes its toll on our skin and this product works as a great exfoliator to remove dead skin cells, leaving the way for the new skin cells to grow. Which, in turn will leave you with a healthy glow, rather than a red nosed, red cheeked flushed mess. (£8)

4: Body Shop The Sparkler – This is such a pretty product for any bedroom, with it’s vintage style bottle. The colour I chose is Boudoir Pink, a pale pink (obviously) silvery shimmer. This can be used all over, wherever you want an added bit of glitz and glamour, or literally all over if you would like to resemble a disco ball. Some shimmer and glitter powders rarely stay on the skin, but this one really lasts the night. A little pricey at £15, but as with most glitters/shimmers, a little goes a long way.

5: St Tropez instant Tan – Another last minute self tanning product, and again with a reliable, well known name. St Tropez has been around for years and has continued to be one of the top selling self tanning agents around. You can’t argue with popularity and longevity. If it’s good enough for Victoria Beckham, then layer it on me! £10 a tube.

6: Lipcote – This is THE original lip sealer, your mum probably had one of these, and probably your nanna too. It is one of THE British beauty classics and with over 100 uses per bottle at £3.69, it is an extremely tiny amount of cost per use. (Sorry, it is late and I am not working that one out without the use of a calculator). Keep your lips looking kissable with this lipstick sealer which gives staying power, even when the rest of you was ready for home about an hour ago.

And finally, a few other bits and pieces to fill out those stockings…

1: New Look Large Clutch Bag (£19.99)- Every girl needs a clutch bag, and there are some beautiful tiny ones out there but unfortunately they won’t even fit an iphone in them…us girls come with a lot of baggage these days and this on trend clutch bag will fit the lot in, cigarettes, smart phone, money, cards, keys, chewing gum, lipstick, lipgloss, eyeliner, bobble, brush, lollipops, the cat, the kitchen sink, the LOT. It also looks good down your side in photos if you forget your control pants!

2: Paperchase London Sticky Notes Set – Emily and I LOVE stationery….and we LOVE Paperchase and so this is a combination of the two, making it utter perfection. Perfect for those who are forgetful, or those who work in an office or for those studying for exams. Approximately £5. Many other styles and designs available.

3: Floral Notebook – This beautiful floral notebook has pink tiny roses on and is perfect for carrying about in your handbag to jot down shopping lists, or to do lists, or even boys numbers.

4: Paperchase Compact Floral Diary – There are so many BEAUTIFULLY AMAZINGLY PERFECT PRETTIFUL diaries at Paperchase, I simply refuse to go elsewhere. Everyone needs (or should need) a diary, and Paperchase make practicality pretty with this cute floral diary at just £4.50.

We know there are so many great deals out there, please let us know if you find an extra special one, and also if you have any fab stocking filler ideas to share with us.

Festive Love
